After having celebrated Valentine's Day like Princes and Princesses (read more about that here), it is time to make bank. Thankfully, we are in Monaco where gaming is king. On Saturday February 16, 2019, a special Punto Banco tournament will take place at the Casino Monte-Carlo with a 100,000 euro prize pool.
Punto or Banco?
The objective of the Punto Banco game is to predict which hand will win: Punto, Banco or if it will be a tie. It's a game derived from Baccarat.
The Punto Banco game is played with eight decks of 52 cards. Each card has its own nominal value, with the exception of 10s, Jacks, Queens and Kings, that are all worth 0. The croupier supervises the game.
After extracting the cards from the shoe, the croupier presents a cutting card to the player; he, in turn, inserts a red card into approximately two eighths of the “huitaine”, creating the last hand of the game.
The first card drawn determines the number of cards that will be burned by the croupier. If the drawn card is a 7, seven cards will be burned; if the drawn card is a 10, Jack, Queen or King, ten cards will be burned.
The croupier has the PONTE cards to his right, the BANQUE cards to his left; the PONTE is revealed first, followed by the BANQUE ; the draw table is then applied.
The PONTE is paid at a tie.
The BANQUE is paid 19 for 20.
The TIE, whose maximum amount cannot exceed an eighth of the maximum bet is paid out 8 for 1.
Punto Banco is available all year around at the Casino de Monte-Carlo and at the Sun Casino with an entry fee of 40 euros for each casino.
The special 100.00 euros prize pool will be held exclusively at the Casino Monte-Carlo on February 16th.
Welcome to Monaco!
