The Monaco agenda is on fire! We talked about the International Circus Festival last week, and now it's time for one legendary race in the Principality of Monaco, the Monte-Carlo Rally.
The 87th edition of the Monte-Carlo Rally will take place this year January 21-27, 2019 as the inaugural round of the 2019 FIA World Rally Championship (WRC), and will be filled with surprises as the race has been remodeled ; 40% of the race will be completely different from last year's event.
The 2019 Monte-Carlo Rally programme
The 87th Monte-Carlo Rally will start on Monday January 21st, 2019 at 12:00 noon, with two and a half days of intense pre-race. The official start of the race will be on Thursday January 24th at 6:50pm, Place Desmichels in Gap. This first night time leg will include two unprecedented special stages of a total of 41.35 kilometers. These two specials, “La Bréole / Selonnet” (SS 1 - 20.76 km) and “Avançon / Notre-Dame-du-Laus” (SS 2 - 20.59 km) will unveil the best drivers.
On Friday January 25th, the official second day of the race, the Monte-Carlo Rally will head South-West of Gap for a total of 125.12 kilometers in a timed race, with the newly special “Valdrôme / Sigottier” (SS 3/6 - 20.04 km), then “Roussieux / Laborel’ (SS 4/7 - 24.05 km). This part of the race is expected to be hard and strenuous.
For the third day of the race on Saturday January 26th, the Monte-Carlo Rally will head North-West and then North-East of Gap, with a total of 93.38 kilometers with the specials “Agnières-en-Dévoluy / Corps” (SS 9/11 - 29.82 km) and “Saint-Léger-les-Mélèzes / La Batie-Neuve” (SS 10/12 - 16.87 km). After an ultimate stop at the Service Park in Gap-Fontreyne late afternoon, competitors that are still in the race will make their way back to the Principality of Monaco early evening, to then arrive in Monaco on Sunday January 27th.

Sunday January 27th is a very special day in the Principality of Monaco as it is the day of Saint Devote, cherished Saint Patron of Monaco.
It will also mark the last leg of the 2019 Monte-Carlo Rally with a 63.98 kilometer race with the specials “La Bollène-Vésubie / Peira-Cava” (SS 13/15 - 18.41 km) and of “La Cabanette / Col de Braus” (SS 14/16 - 13.58 km).
A very intense race is to expected this year, not to be missed.
